Synthesis of layered lipophilic graphene quantum dot over Fe@MgO catalyst
The problem of today's societies is finding a solution for optimal energy storage. Nowadays tribology studies focus on transport and friction lost tools, therefore discussion about lubrication is more than ever before. Additionally, the development of new materials such as graphene and graphene quantum dots (GQDs) can pave the way to solve tribological issues. GQDs have been known as one of the most important and attractive lubricating nanomaterials and have dominant application in the tribological field. In this research, by applying changes to the GQD structure, we succeeded in synthesizing layered GQD which Octyl amine functionalized layered GQD over Fe@MgO catalyst. The covalent functionalization was demonstrated with H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, TEM, FT-IR, and XRD. X-ray diffraction results showed that the obtained product has a layered structure. Superb tribological properties of yield sample were admitted by four-ball and friction tests.
