Comparative tests of the agglomerating process of waste mill scale in roll press
steel mill scale was mixed with post-carbide lime (10%) and molasses (5%) binders and agglomerated in a roll press by using 2 systems (compacting or briquetting). Gravity and forced feed methods (screw feeder) were applied to feed the roll press. Relation between shatter index of agglomerated mill scale and H2O content was detd. It was necessary to compact mill scale contg. 1.5-1.7% of H2O by using a screw feeder and season the product for 24 h to obtain drop shatter test samples (>90%). On the other hand, briquettes made at moisture 2,9-6,9% by using both feeding systems for roll press had drop shatter test >95% after 24 h.
