LCST Behaviors of Amphiphilic Pyridine Derivatives with Oligo(ethylene glycol) Chains
Water-soluble pyridine derivatives linked with gallic acid bearing oligo(ethylene glycol) (OEG) side chains on the hydroxyl groups or with aryl ether dendron moiety having OEG chains on the periphery were synthesized. The amphiphilic pyridine derivatives showed lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behaviors in aqueous solutions. The changes in LCST behaviors following the addition of salts, organic solvents and organic acids were investigated.
