Pt-Ru/WO3 electrodes were prepared by electrodepositing in an alcohol-containing solution. The resulting electrodes showed higher catalytic activity toward CO oxidation than Pt-Ru electrodes in acidic electrolyte. A type of weakly adsorbed CO was observed on such electrodes which can be oxidized at lower anodic potentials. It was found that temperature strongly affects the equilibrium coverage of CO, which is lower at higher temperatures.
