Green synthesis of cobalt ferrite nanoparticles using Cydonia oblonga extract: structural and mossbauer studies
Cobalt ferrite nanoparticles (CFNPs) were obtained by a green synthesis method using the aqueous extract of Cydonia oblonga from two different precursors - cobalt nitrate and cobalt acetate. CFNPs were characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, FT-IR and Mossbauer spectroscopy to estimate cationic distribution. The XRD analysis indicates that the crystallite size of CFNPs is about 8nm. SEM revealed agglomerated morphology of CFNPs. The force constants K-T and K-O have been calculated from FT-IR band frequencies and the comparison with the interatomic distances has discussed. The cationic distribution was established from Mossbauer data and it was shown that the use of cobalt acetate as precursor causes more invertible structure of CFNPs.
