A New Look at Fuel Additives
The world situation in the field of additives that provide for the manufacture of standard fuels at oil refineries has been considered. The fundamental tasks of creating an assortment of basic additives are noted to have been solved. At the same time, new factors have emerged that influence research in this area. A serious alternative to the use of additives is some technologies for processing petroleum feedstock that solve the same problems as the additives do. In addition, new technical solutions in the field of engine design and workflow involve the introduction of additives in fuels at the places of their use. This requires the developers of additives to have a minimum of knowledge of oil refining processes, as well as innovations in the field of engine design and their operating modes. A sufficient level of technical literacy is also required from personnel servicing new equipment.
