Study of Reaction Rate between Zinc(II)-Histidine [Zn(II)-his](+) Complex and Ninhydrin: Effect of Three Dicationic Gemini (Alkanediyl-alpha,omega-Type) Surfactants
Study of rate between Zn(II)-histidine and ninhydrin in three dicationic gemini (alkanediyl-alpha,omega-type) surfactants has been investigated at temperature (343 K) by spectroscopic method. The order of reaction is detected the respective first- and fractional-order dependencies of rate in concentration of [Zn(II)-his](+) complex and ninhydrin. Cmc of pure geminis and their mixture was determined with the help of conductivity meter. Effects of all the three gemini (alkanediyl-alpha,omega-type) surfactants at different concentrations on rate were carried out. Gemini micellar system, below their cmc, was observed more advance than aqueous. However, 16-4-16 was found to catalyze the study more among all three geminis and followed the order at all concentrations as 16-4-16 > 16-5-16 > 16-6-16. Unusual result of geminis on reaction rate (k(psi)) has been mentioned and discussed in appropriate manner employing pseudophase model of micelles. Data obtained from kinetic results were utilized to evaluate several parameters and constants.
