Charging Effects in Measurements of High-Temperature Superconductors with High-Resolution Electron-Energy-Loss Spectroscopy
We report observations of charging effects in measurements of high-temperature superconductors with high-resolution electron-energy-loss spectroscopy. The source of the charging was found to be a nominally conductive, silver-filled epoxy, such as is commonly used for mounting samples to be cooled in ultrahigh vacuum. The tests performed to confirm the presence of the charging effects and the methods used to overcome these effects are discussed.
