Synthesis and photo-curing properties of polyurethane acrylates with difunctional acrylate
Although a photo curing is more efficient in terms of time, solvent, and cost than a thermal one, photo-curable coatings require low viscosity and fast curing speed due to workability and time saving, respectively. A high viscous oligomer with multi-acryl groups is one of main components to determine its physical property after curing and then viscosity of coatings is controlled by adding a diluent. The polyurethane acrylates were newly synthesized by using ethylene diamine as a chain extender in poly(epsilon-caprolactone) polyol, dicyclohexylmethane 4,4 '-diisocyanate, and isocyanato acrylate (ICA) containing diacrylate and diisocyanate groups. IR spectra were used to identify the synthesis and photo curing process. The mechanical properties of the cured films were analyzed by UTM. The results showed that the tensile strength of the UV-cured films was depended on the ICA content in the polyurethane acrylates.
