Nanoparticle impact on discharging of PCM through a thermal storage involving numerical modeling for heat transfer and irreversibility
Endosure with two sides' cold flows has been considered as storage unit to investigate solidification of water. To reach greater the rate of phase changing, nanomaterial were dispersed and different shapes of nano powder were investigated. Adaptive grid with automatic time step was employed by means of finite element method. Findings were illustrated in term of profiles and contours as well as new formulation for time of discharging. The low deviation of solid fraction history in comparison with experimental output reveals the nice agreement. Both parameters have supportive effect and augment of m is more beneficial in view of augmenting solidification rate. Changing shape of nano powder from sphere to platelet, cylinder and brick makes discharging time reduces about 7.14%, 5.75% and 2.35%, respectively. The minimum need time for discharging is 191.08 s which is occurred at A = 0.5, m = 5.7 and maximum rate of improvement in comparison of case pure water is 26.5%. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V.
