Statistical data on the prodn. and consumption of N fertilizers were presented. The results of 11-years field expts. on N use efficiency (NUE) by spring barley, estimated according to the EU methodol., taking into account the relationship between NUE and water use efficiency were presented. The analysis of variance and regression showed that the yield of spring barley in the multi-year period was not limited by water availability.
