Tunneling-Electron-Induced Adsorption of Pyridine on a Hydrogen-Terminated Silicon Surface
Pyridine molecules were found to adsorb on a hydrogen-terminated silicon surface when electrons were tunneled through pyridine vapor to the silicon surface. The adsorption was apparently induced by the tunneling electrons, and its desorption also appeared to be induced by tunneling electrons. These findings consist of the first observation of tunneling-electron-induced adsorption-desorption on a solid surface.
