Effect of fine solid powders as stabilizers on distributions of polymer particle diameters in suspension polymerization
In suspension polymerization of styrene, it was discussed how the solid powder prepared under the various conditions affects the polymer particle size distribution. In the experiment, calcium carbonate powder was used as the stabilizer which was prepared at different temperatures. The shape and the diameter of calcium carbonate prepared are extremely different. It is found that the addition of calcium carbonate prepared at 20 degrees C formes larger polymer particles than at 70 degrees C.
