Effect of fillers on the properties of NBR/PVC microcellular shoe soles
Microcrumb powdered (NBR/PVC) based sole waste with silica, clay, calcium carbonate and aluminium silicate were tried as fillers in NBR/PVC based microcellular soles. Microcrumb improves properties such as abrasion resistance and split tear strength up to 100 phr and hence is an efficient filler for cost reduction. There is only a marginal improvement in properties when china clay (up to 150 phr) and calcium carbonate (up to 100 phr) are used as fillers. Silica can be used up to 60 phr for improving properties and reducing cost.
