Emissions from tires in dedicated use
In view of publications from Sweden (KEMI, 1994) focus was given to the polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emissions from tires in dedicated use. With respect to chemical analyses of new and used tires, of abrasion-material, soil-and street-drainage-samples we found low PAM-pollution and much lower than those reported from Sweden. On busy highways the pollution with tire-specific substances at the roadside is obvious, but some meters away from the roadside no suspicious PAM-pollution was observed. It is supposed that the photolytic degradation effect to small abrasion particles is high enough, that no enrichment of organic additives from fires is observed.
