The phase morphology of rubber/plastic blends
Thermoplastic vulcanizates contain particles of vulcanized rubber dispersed in a thermoplastic resin, They are formed by the vulcanization of the rubber during its mixing with the thermoplastic resin in the molten state. In the work presented here, we consider the evolution of the blend morphology before dynamic vulcanization, The study considers the rheological and interfacial effects on the phase morphology of the rubber-plastic blends during molten-state mixing, cold pressing, and compression molding. In addition, for blends of NR with polyethylene the kinetics of the evolution of morphology during mixing with the polyethylene in the molten state was considered.
