Stereospecific polymerization of butadiene on supported allyl complexes of neodymium
For the introduction of gas phase butadiene polymerization it is necessary to develop highly active and selective supported organometallic catalysts. Various methods were investigated to fix new allyl complexes of neodymium to metal oxid supports, The heterogenization of methylaluminoxane (MAO)-activated Nd(eta(3)-C3H5)(3). dioxane on MAO-functionalized SiO2 of optimum texture led to supported catalysts which allow the cis-1,4-polymerization of butadiene with a high activity of 50 000 mot butadiene/(mol Nd . h) and a selectivity of 97 % in solution with simultaneous fragmentation, The kinetics of butadiene polymerization with these supported catalysts in heptane yields a first-order dependence of the overall rate of polymerization on monomer and neodymium complex without deactivation of active centres.
