Trends in systems, sizes and throughputs determine the analysis of the machinery for mixing and compounding of plastics. Continuing developments in machine design, increasing levels of throughput through higher torques and volumes as well as continuous developments of screw geometry and drive technology are discussed and the major steps in machinery and technology leading to higher throughputs are explained.
