Deamination of 2-Octylamine with Metal Nitride and Oxide Catalysts
The conversion of 2-octylamine occurs over both metal nitrides and oxides. In general, the oxide and nitride catalysts produce more condensation of 2-octylamine to higher molecular weight products, mostly containing nitrogen, than elimination to produce octenes and ammonia. Alcohols and amines give significantly different octene isomer distributions; however, the distribution from each reactant is similar for the nitride and oxide catalysts.
