Novel Method of Catalyst Preparation for Selective Hydrogenation of Unsaturated Aldehydes
In this work, we have developed a novel method for preparation of mixed metal-metal oxide catalysts. This new method is based on two different modes of preparation : the first one is the microemulsion technique which allows preparation of a suspension of metal particles and the second one, called the sol-gel process, is usually employed to prepare oxide material. The combination of the sol-gel process and the microemulsion technique enables one to make Pt particles containing some amorphous titanium oxide on their surface. This results in a certain metal-metal oxide interaction which is the active phase in the catalytic hydrogenation of alpha-beta unsaturated aldehydes into unsaturated alcohols.
