Soluble high-T-g polymers for second-order nonlinear optics from an unusual mix of imide and siloxane linkages in the backbone
Covalent linking of imide, dimethylsiloxane, and high-beta nonlinear optical (NLO)-active chromophores in the backbone yields polymers that are soluble and that possess high thermal stabilities and glass transition temperatures. Easily fabricated and poled thin films of these polymers exhibit good second-order nonlinear optical susceptibilities with long-term temporal stabilities of the second-harmonic generation signals.
