Thermal-Properties of the Fe3Al-5 at-Percent Cr Intermetallic Compound and Thermal-Diffusivity Anomaly in Do3 Phase
Thermal properties (thermal capacity, thermal expansion, thermal diffusivity, thermal conductivity) of the Fe3Al-5 at.% Cr intermetallic compound have been measured in the temperature range from 20 to 700 degrees C. Observed anomalies are assumed to be caused by the continuous order-order transition near 550 degrees C. An unusual character of the thermal diffusivity anomaly (a maximum near the transition temperature) has been explained as a thermomechanical stress effect caused by local changes of atomic ordering in the material during the flash method experiment.
