DESIGN OF THE LOHAN TAILINGS DAM, MAMUT COPPER MINING SDN BHD, MALAYSIA
A major concern of today is pollution and its control. Tighter regulations and legislations on tailings disposal require the mining industry to play a more prominent role in controlling the disposal of its vast quantity of highly visible wastes. The successful construction of a tailing disposal system however, requires extensive studies and finance. This paper briefly describes the various aspects of the Tailings Retention Dam and its rehabilitation programme at the Mamut Copper Mine the largest open pit mine in Malaysia.
