GRINDING OF WOLLASTONITE UNDER GASEOUS ENVIRONMENTS - INFLUENCE ON ACIDIC BASIC SURFACE SITES
A simple method of modifying the surface of wollastonite was achieved by grinding under a gaseous environment in a sealed grinding vessel. The changes in strength and relative number of the surface reactive sites was estimated by the application of acid/base theory and experimentally determining the adsorption of organic probe molecules (with well defined acidic and basic functional groups) on the mineral powders.
