LB multilayers of the amphiphilic unsymmetrical disulphide S-(2-azobenzenethio)-11-mercapto-undecanoic acid (AMU) have been prepared and investigated by spectroscopic methods. A reversible photochromic switch can be observed upon film irradiation.
