This paper is a review of optical ordering processes in amorphous films containing photoisomerizable dye molecules. Photoinduced Anisotropy (PIA), Photoassisted Poling (PAP) and All-Optical Poling (AOP) are demonstrated through basic experiments and interpreted by a common theoretical model.
