The role of acidic properties of metal oxide catalysts in the catalytic oxidation
Acidic properties of mixed oxide catalysts sometimes play an important role in the catalytic oxidations of both saturated and unsaturated lower hydrocarbons, where reactions, especially the selectivities to the target products, are strongly affected by the functions of acidic sites. Such typical reactions are summarized and the roles of acidic sites are explained. The concept mentioned above is practically utilized for the design of industrial catalysts.
