HYDROCARBOMETHOXYLATION OF METHYL-ESTER OF UNDECYLENIC ACID WITH CATALYSIS BY COBALT COMPOUNDS
A study has been made of the influence of the nature of the cobalt catalyst, the solvent and the concentrations of the reagents on the hydrocarbomethoxylation of methyl ester of undecylenic acid. With catalysis by cobalt carbonyl or acetate promoted by a pyridine addition, in methanol (120 degrees C, p(CO) = 4.5 MPa) the reaction leads to dimethyl ester of 1,10-decanedicarboxylic acid in a 70-75% yield, with a low content of the second regioisomer.
