A study has been made of the reaction of a number of five- and six-membered alkyl- and alkenylcyclenes with methylphenols in the presence of cationite KU-23 in H form, The optimum alkylation conditions have been determined, ensuring a cyclene conversion of 70-80% and a monosubstituted cresol yield of up to 90% of the alkylate.
