The equations describing an adiabatic catalytic reactor system packed with large particles, where intraparticle conduction and diffusion are considered to be the rate-controlling steps, are derived from a basic point of view in order to describe the physical and chemical steps in detail, and solved numerically.
A typical sample problem is solved by proposed method and the result is compared with that of the simplified method where intraparticle conduction and diffusion are not taken into consideration.
