Phase separation in a commercial block propylene-ethylene copolymer
Phase separation in a commercial block propylene-ethylene copolymer has been studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was found that the size of the discrete domains within the copolymer increased with storage time in the melt. The particle coarsening had little or no effect on the crystallisation behaviour of the copolymers. The coarsening mechanism is that of Ostwald ripening.
