Several aliphatic oligoamides and polyamides have been chlorinated by tert-butyl hypochlorite in organic medium. Reactions were carried out in mild experimental conditions and no side reactions and degradations were observed. The influence of experimental parameters and of initial polymer structure on the conversion (alpha) has been examined. The modified polyamides were studied by SEC, chemical titration and H-1- and C-13-NMR.
