A novel solution of Saito's integral equation for random scission - Application on the visbreaking of isotactic polypropylene
A novel solution of Saito's integral equation for random scission of polymer chains having a broad distribution of molecular weights has been developed. This solution is in agreement with standard numerical solutions of Saito's integral equation and is also in agreement with the experimental data for visbreaking of isotactic polypropylene, confirming that the visbreaking of isotactic polypropylene does indeed involve random scission with no long chain branching or crosslinking.
