Generalized Fractional Efficiency
Simple probabilistic considerations suggest that the fractional efficiency of particle separation devices is a cumulative distribution function defined over the inlet particulate mass distribution. The present article develops this idea for arbitrary univariate distributions. Some practical considerations and the implications of this formulation on similarity laws are then briefly discussed.
