The Response-Time of Pressure Probes
Gas purged probes connected to a sensitive pressure transducer have been used to measure bubble properties in a 150 mm diameter fluidized bed of cracking catalyst. The response time of the pressure fluctuations was found to be inversely proportional to the diameter of the probe to the fourth power; a 4 mm diameter probe was considerably better than one of 1.5 mm and did not significantly affect the bubbles.
