In this paper, a new criterion for particle agglomeration by collision is proposed. This criterion differs from previous ones in that, instead of the use of energy conservation, it compares directly the forces involved in the course of a collision to determine whether particle agglomeration would occur. Approaches for the calculation of the forces are also provided.
