Recovery of chromium (VI) from waste waters by extraction with methyl-isobutyl ketone.
Tests of chromium (VI) extraction recovery from wastes have been carried out with use of methyl-isobutyl ketone (MIBK) and triisooctylamine. Tests were carried out in strongly acidic solutions (pH = 2). For preliminary tests prepared waste containing potassium dichromate was used. Chromium (VI) in MIBK easily reduced to chromium (III), so instantaneous reextraction into the solution of sodium base was carried out. Yield of chromium recovery varied from 85 to 98 per cent for prepared waste and from 70 to 75 per cent for industrial ones.
