Removal of sulfur compounds from industrial gases.
There are presented results of lab experiments on the removal of inorganic reduced sulfurous compounds, mainly H2S and SO2, from industrial gases with use of Thiobacillus ferroxidans and Desulfovibrio desulfuricans bacteria. The purpose of these studies was the elimination of solid wastes, mainly plasters formed in the wet methods based on alkaline absorption as well as the upgrading of acidic method known as the wet catalysis, which is based on the conversion of SO2 into SO3 in presence of Fe-2(SO4)(3) as catalyst. Tested methods of desulfurization enable regeneration of absorption solution and disposal of formed products, i.e. sulfur and sulfuric acid.
