Improved, water-soluble, acceptor polymers for enzymic glycosylation
Two water-soluble polymers carrying 0.28 and 0.16 mmol glucose/g were prepared following the co-polymerization of 2-nitro-4-(carboxyhydrazido-N'-acryloyl)benzyl 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside and arcylamide. The polymers served as efficient accepters (up to 86% transfer yield) in the galactosyltransferase reaction and the product saccharide, lactose, was released from the polymers following photolysis (84% yield).
