Studies of electropolymerisation of sodium 2-(3-thienyl)ethyl sulfonate
In the present communication, the electropolymerisation of sodium 2-(3-thienyl)ethyl sulfonate (TES) and the copolymerisation of sodium 2-(3-thienyl)ethyl sulfonate monomer with pyrrole in an aqueous medium are reported. It has been shown that TES can be oxidised/polymerised in an aqueous solution. The polypyrrole/polyTES copolymer can be obtained from a mixed solvent system. The polymers obtained (either in solution or on the electrode surface) were characterised using NMR, mass spectroscopy and/or elemental analysis.
