Polystyrene supported t-butyl chromates: preparation and use as oxidising reagents
Crosslinked polystyrene supported analogues of t-butyl chromate were prepared and developed as a new class of recyclable solid phase oxidising reagents. These reagents were found to oxidise primary and secondary alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds in near quantitative yields. The oxidation reactions using the polystyrene supported t-butyl chromate reagents were found to be affected by the nature of the solvent, temperature, the effective concentration of the reagent function, duration of the reaction and the presence of catalyst.
