An overall view of past, present and proposed wireless power transmission projects is presented. Activities in the United States, Canada, France, the former Soviet Union and Japan are highlighted. The recent Japan-U.S. space to space wireless power transmission demonstration ISY-METS is described. Japan＇s recent feasibility study for large-scale space solar power transmission for terrestrial use is examined. In particular, proposals for utility experimentation and the use of wireless power transmission for telecommunications platforms are discussed.
