Structural Study of the High and Low-Temperature Phases of the Proton Conductor Rb3H(Seo4)(2)
The crystal structures of Rb3H(SeO4)(2) have been determined in the rhombohedral proton conducting phase at 498 K and in the monoclinic ordered phase at 298 K by means of neutron powder diffraction. Special emphasis is given to the determination of accurate positions for the light atoms. The proton conduction mechanism in the high temperature phase is discussed with respect to the results of the structure refinement.
