Ion-Transport and Polarization Studies in a Proton Conducting Solid-Electrolyte Cell
The ionic transport properties of the strontia-ceria-ytterbia (SCY) electrolyte and the polarization of the Ag-SCY interphase were studied at 600-750 degrees C. Current-overpotential curves were obtained and exchange and limiting currents were determined. Results suggest that the process is probably limited by the abstraction of hydrogen from methane to form methyl radicals.
