Photoemission spectra of Na beta- and Na beta "-aluminas have been performed using a beam line with a synchrotron radiation to study the structures of the valence band. Both valence bands of these two materials are constructed by the 2p orbital of oxygen. On the results of this work, ionic conduction mechanism is discussed.
