Investigation of Sol-Gel Route in the Synthesis of Lithium Ion Conducting Glasses
Lithium ionic conducting {(0.6)Li2O-(0.4)[xB(2)O(3) + (1 - x)SiO2] x = 0.0 to 0.7 in steps of 0.1} glasses are synthesised through the sor-gel route. The monolithic form of gels are obtained with rich silica content. The prepared compounds are characterised by XRD, IR and particle size data. Electrical conductivity measurements are made at ambient as well as at higher temperatures. The activation energy (E(2)) for the migration of lithium ion in the sample is obtained from the slopes of log (sigma T) vs. 1000/T plot. The observed variation in the conductivity with the formers composition is explained qualitatively by using the existing model.
