A New Interpretation of the Lixv2O5 Electrochemical-Behavior for 1-Less-Than-X-Less-Than-3
Combined Soft and solid state chemistry followed by precite XRD investigations allow us to determine the Li-V-O phase diagram for 1 < x < 3 and to propose a new interpretation of the electrochemistry curve. The xi- and omega-LixV2O5 phases as well as gamma-LixV2O5 for x > 1 values prepared via electrochemistry are not confirmed : for x > 1 several phases successively appear after gamma-LixV2O5, i.e. vanadates LiVO3 and Li3VO4 and mixed valence vanadium oxides like V6O11 and finally V2O3, coming from the classical disproportionnation 2V(4+) --> V3+ + V5+; the cubic ’omega-LixV2O5’ phase (x = 3) corresponds to a mixture of the well known (LiVO2)-V-x phase in its cubic form and Li3VO4.
