PRESSURE DROPS IN HORIZONTAL WELLS - WHEN CAN THEY BE IGNORED
Frictional losses create a pressure drop within a horizontal wellbore. Should this pressure drop be significant relative to drawdown (the difference in pressure between reservoir and wellbore), the pressure far downhole could nearly equal the pressure in the reservoir. Friction can thus reduce productivity. This paper reports guidelines that indicate whether friction matters in a particular well.
