A NEW METHOD FOR REPRESENTING MULTIPLE WELLS WITH ARBITRARY RATES IN NUMERICAL RESERVOIR SIMULATION
A new equation is presented for calculating the equivalent well-block radii, r(eq), for all n(w) wells in a reservoir that fully accounts for arbitrary well rates and the interaction between wells. The data required for the new equation may be obtained in a preprocessor by calculating n(w) single-phase pressure distributions. Then, an accurate r(eq) can be calculated for each well at each timestep, even under conditions where well rates vary with time.
