Thermal Studies of Some Transition-Metal Complexes of Phenylazoacetoacetanilide (Hpaac)
Phenylazoacetoacetanilide complexes of the type M(PAAC)n, where M is Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Fe(II), Pd(II), VO(II) or UO2(II), n is the valency of the metal, and HPAAC is phenylazoacetoacetanilide, have been synthesized and characterized. In these complexes, the phenylazo group (C6H5N2) exhibits bidentate character and coordinates symmetrically with the metal through the phenylazo amd methylketone groups. Thermogravimetric studies indicate that there is an initial endothermic reaction followed by exothermic dissociation. The thermodynamic parameters and the order of reactions were calculated from the TG and DTA curves.
